Bart De Moor is a partner in our Dispute Resolution practice and in our Restructuring & Insolvency practice.

He assists and advises clients on litigation and alternative dispute resolution, corporate law, commercial law, private international law and secured debt – be they complex international issues or local matters. A lot of his work revolves around corporate disputes such as shareholder and director disputes, directors’ liability and insolvency-related disputes. He is also very active in the field of corporate restructuring and insolvency and is regularly appointed by the court as an insolvency practitioner. He was an insolvency practitioner appointed by the court in the reorganisation proceedings of the Belgian airline Sabena, the companies Photo Hall Multimedia and Flamant Group, and in the bankruptcy proceedings for Photo Hall Multimedia and Free Record Shop.

Bart is a mediator in civil and commercial matters, accredited by the Federal Mediation Authority since 2007, and an insolvency practitioner appointed by the Brussels Court of Enterprises (Ondernemingsrechtbank / Tribunal de l’entreprise). He is the president of bMediation, the mediation center of the Brussels Chamber of Commerce and the Bar.

Bart is a lecturer at the Faculty of Law of the University of Leuven (KU Leuven) and author of numerous books and articles extensively published in legal journals. He is a member of the editorial board of the legal journal DAOR (Droit des Affaires-OndernemingsRecht), member of INSOL Europe and INSOL World and a member and co-chair of the Reorganisation and Workouts Subcommittee of the Insolvency Section of the International Bar Association (IBA).


Education

Bart De Moor studied law at the University of Namur and the University of Ghent, obtaining his law degree in 1986. In 1992, he also obtained a certificate from a four-year cycle of courses on the Legal System of the United States, given at the University of Georgia and the Brussels Bar. In 1993, Bart obtained a certificate in Health Economics from the University of Antwerp. In 2014, Bart obtained the Certificate “Einführung in das deutsche Recht” awarded by the Deutscher Anwaltverein and the Dutch Bar Association in Brussels

Bart was admitted to the Brussels Bar in 1986.

Bart De Moor is immediate past President of the Brussels Bar (Dutch-speaking section).

Bart De Moor is an active member of the International Bar Association. He is also a member of INSOL Europe and a member of the Council of INSOL Europe.

He was previously a member of the Council of the Brussels Bar (Dutch-speaking section) from 2007 till 2010 and a former delegate of the Brussels Bar at the General Assembly of Flemish Bar Associations from 2008 till 2017.
